EMDR

“I feel like I’ve done so much self-work but I’m still stuck…”

I am an EMDR clinician. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

EMDR is the leading trauma therapy that desensitizes and reprocesses traumatic memories held in the brain and body.

I am passionate about EMDR because, for me, it finally released the ‘puppet strings’ tethering me to my past. I love that it is rooted in neuroscience and harnesses the brain’s ability to be adaptive. It’s very rewarding to see how it frees people, and the results are lifelong.

I often tell my clients that EMDR doesn’t erase memories, it just removes the emotional charge that the memories hold over you. Afterwards, triggers are no longer activating and you are left with the ability to show up as your most up-to-date self.

I am particularly interested in using EMDR with complex chronic pain and/or chronic illness clients. As they say, ‘the body keeps the score’. Stress and trauma are often held in the body and can manifest as seemingly untreatable pain and dysfunction in the body. EMDR is a unique way to address the brain-body connection and provide lasting relief.
